Palomino intermediate school

uniform drive

Coolwater Christian Church is sponsoring a school uniform drive for 4th through 6th

graders at Palomino Intermediate School, located at 15815 N. 29th St. in Phoenix. Palomino

is in a densely populated, high crime area of Phoenix. Uniforms are required in order to create

a level playing field for children of all income levels.

Most of the children (98.9%) who attend Palomino are under the national poverty level. While the school receives federal funding for school supplies, including backpacks, there are no funds available for uniforms. The school has changed their uniform policy to include t-shirts so costs will be reduced for families, but many children still don’t have the clothes needed.

Here’s where the community can help!

There are many ways you can participate in this important effort. You can donate money at and choose the fund, school uniforms. Or you can purchase Hanes t-shirts like these at Walmart - in navy blue, black, or gray, in various sizes from boys size medium to adult size large.

You can also write a check payable to Coolwater. Be sure to write Palomino on the memo line.

Can you imagine the smiles on the faces of these children when they get to wear a new shirt on their first day back to school? If you have questions, please call Coolwater Church at 480-585-5554 or write us at

"Serving our Local Community"

Please Note:

Our Summer Hours for food distribution in conjunction with the Foothill Food Bank & Resource Center are from 9AM - 11AM.

Our Food Distribution program is held on the Third Saturday of each month.

As Disciples, it is part of our mission to move out into the world to be and share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps into our community.

Every Third Saturday of the month, we actively serve in and promote an Outreach Project benefiting our neighbors and non-profit organizations in our community. It is a hands on opportunity to care for each other, to be open to God's calling in our lives and to grow in our faith. If you would like to assist in our efforts, please contact our church office at 480-585-5554 or email us at

May 2021

Coolwater is honored to direct our Outreach efforts in May and June to assist Arizona Helping Hands with their collection of needed supplies for foster children in Arizona.

Arizona Helping Hands is the largest provider of essential needs of foster children in the state.

Please join us in volunteering or dropping off your donations on The Third Saturday in May, May 15th, between 9AM and 1PM. We are focusing on collecting new boys clothing - sizes 8-14.

Also continuing on our Third Saturday Outreach is our satellite food distribution for the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center. Patrons of the Foothill Food Bank can pick up needed items at Coolwater, outside of the Food Bank's normal M-F operating hours.

Drop offs for Arizona Helping Hands and food distribution are held at Coolwater Christian Church, SE corner of 56th St and Dynamite Blvd.

Contact for volunteer information. Thank You!

april 2021

For our Third Saturday Outreach for April, Coolwater continued serving as a satellite distribution point for the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center. With the main warehouse closed on weekends, this is an opportunity for patrons to gather a wide variety of food items for which they are in need.

Coolwater also collected toiletries that will be distributed at the main Foothills Food Bank. "Thank you!" to all who served and dropped off donations!

march 2021

For our 3rd Saturday Outreach project for March, we will be collecting bottled water and distributing food for those who are experiencing a food shortage. Foothills Food Bank is closed on Saturday, but we have partnered with Foothills to provide needed food on the 3rd Saturday of each month. If you would like to assist, we will be serving from 9AM to 1PM at the church.

On Palm Sunday, March 28th and Easter, April 4th, we will be receiving a special Easter Offering supporting the Disciples Mission Fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Gifts to the Fund support various ministries within the Disciples church. Giving through Coolwater or directly to offers opportunities for Disciples to journey as missionaries, attend college or seminary, and so much more.

January 2021

On January 23rd, Coolwater hosted a very successful Drive-Thru food drive benefitting Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center.

In addition to the food and paper products donated, we also collected over $500 in cash donations.

In partnership with other area food banks, Foothills Food Bank will be able to purchase additional food items at prices much lower than what is available to the general public. Often times, the Food Bank will be able to purchase 2-3 items at the price the public would pay for one.

"Thank You!" to our Outreach Team and the church members who gave of their time and energy to work at the Drive-Thru and receive the donations. The work of the volunteers and those who donated have made a positive difference in the lives of those in our community who are facing food insecurity.
